The Cayman Islands is fast becoming one of the premier destinations for global medical tourism thanks to the Health City Cayman Islands project. This is a multi-phased development that will eventually establish one of the largest medical facilities in the world at Grand Cayman’s East End.
Supplementing Health City are the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority which provides care through the 124-bed Cayman Islands Hospital (104 inpatient and 20 observation beds) and the 18-bed Faith Hospital on Cayman Brac. Ancillary services are offered at district health centres, and clinics for dental and eye care; and Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital, an eighteen bed, private, for-profit medical/surgical hospital specialising in surgical care. While the hospitals are equipped for most routine procedures, in cases of certain complex emergencies an air ambulance service is on call for transport to hospitals in nearby Florida.
