Leadership Cayman Launched by the Chamber of Commerce
Chamber CEO, Wil Pineau, CCE; Chamber President Stuart Bostock and Jeff Brandes, Chairman, Leadership Cayman Planning Committee
Leadership Cayman, a new skill development programme, was launched by the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, 21 August. The dynamic and interactive programme is designed to promote and enhance community leadership through a series of eleven in-depth seminars that will focus on social, economic, business and political issues in the Cayman Islands.
Mr. Bostock acknowledged, “The development of the programme would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Caymanian Entrepreneur Mr. Linton Tibbetts and his grandson Mr. Jeff Brandes.”
Both individuals invited Chamber CEO Wil Pineau to visit St. Petersburg and attend a Leadership St. Pete seminar as well as to meet with key individuals about their programme. Following that visit, the Chamber Council agreed to undertake the development of this initiative that will help to develop the next generation of leaders in all of the major areas that currently impact our Islands.
Leadership Cayman will bring together a group of 21 diverse individuals who will attend seminars scheduled to take place over a six month period beginning in January 2010 and concluding in July 2010. The seminars take place every other Thursday of the month and is held at a different and relevant venue. Seminar topics include: Sustainable Development & The Environment, Criminal Justice, Stayover & Cruise Tourism, Diversity, Education, Media, Government, Human Services & Health Care, Financial Services, Cultural Arts, and Sister Islands Perspectives. These seminars will provide an in-depth understanding of the society in which we live and work.
