Water

Piped, desalinated water is supplied to much of Grand Cayman. Outlying districts rely on cistern and well water, supplemented by trucked water from private companies. For more information on water supply from Chamber Members, Click Here.

Telecommunications
Since 1996, the Cayman Islands has had its own area code of 345.

Visitors can pre-register for cellular phone service by calling 1.800.boatfon (262.8366) from the USA, 1.800.567.8366 from Canada, or 1.800.949.7800 from elsewhere; or the can dial “0 & SND” from their AMPS-compatible cell phones and register with an operator upon arrival in the Cayman Islands. The cellular service on the Cayman Islands works on the “A” system.

Application forms are available on-line or at the Residential Sales Office in the Anderson Square Building, Shedden Road, George Town, or at the Business Sales Office in SafeHaven, Leeward Three, West Bay Road. For Cayman Brac, application forms are available at Stake Bay as well as on-line.

RESIDENTIAL
All customers must complete and sign the residential application form and return to Cable & Wireless via fax or post, with a copy of passport attached.

New customers must pay the appropriate deposits of:
Ex-patriates CI$350
Retired or Unemployed CI$500
Caymanians CI$200

A Bank Guarantee or Credit Union Guarantee is acceptable in lieu of a deposit.

New customers can sign Direct Debit along with paying deposit.

Existing customers, with good credit rating for the previous twelve (12) months, may with a Direct Debit Application form be eligible for a waiver of deposit fees.

BUSINESS
New business customers must complete the business application form.

Copy of Trade & Business license must be produced for Sole Traders.

Certificate of Incorporation and Certified Resolution must be produced for Incorporated Companies.

New customers must pay the appropriate deposit of:
Local Company CI$500
Exempt Company CI$1,000

Existing customers, with good credit rating for the previous twelve (12) months, may with a Direct Debit Application form be eligible for a waiver of deposit fees.

Additional socket
Installation CI$7.00 per unit
Monthly Rental CI$0.50 per unit
Adaptor for 2-way plug: CI$2.00

Television/Cable

Cayman’s Residents have long relied on satellite dish antennas for a wide range of international programming, but the islands now have four local television stations, as well as a number of cable providers bringing a more reliable service to local viewers.

There are many local radio stations playing a wide range of music, talk shows, call-in shows and religious based music and programming. The local college offers a training program for broadcasting, as well as providing music and talk show programming.
