THROUGH THE AFTERNOON OF AUGUST 27TH 2021.
SYNOPSIS:
Tropical Depression Nine is expected to move across the Cayman Islands overnight with scatter showers and thunderstorms expected to begin affecting us from this evening. Strong winds and rough seas are also expected and as such, a small craft warning is in effect from today and a marine warning in effect from tonight. Radar images show scattered showers in and around the Cayman area moving towards the northwest.
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Nine which at 10am was located about 210 miles SE of Grand Cayman. Tropical Depression Nine is moving NW at 13mph with maximum sustained of 35mph. the system is forecasted to strengthen to a tropical storm tonight as it moves over the Cayman Islands.
THE CAYMAN ISLANDS GOVERNMENT HAS ISSUED A TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR THE CAYMAN ISLANDS
FORECAST:
Today: Partly cloudy skies this morning become cloudy by this afternoon with isolated showers and some thunder. Temperatures will rise to the upper 80’s °F. Winds will be easterly at 15 to 20 knots. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 5 to 7 feet. A small craft warning is in effect.
Tonight: Cloudy to overcast skies with scattered showers and thunder. Showers will be locally heavy at times along with flooding of low lying areas. Temperatures will fall to the low 70’s °F. Winds will be east to southeast at 25 to 30 knots with higher gusts. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 7 to 9 feet. A marine craft warning is in effect.
Tomorrow: Overcast skies with numerous showers and some thunder. Showers will be locally heavy at times along with flooding of low lying areas. Temperatures will rise to the upper 70’s °F. Winds will be east to southeast at 20 to 25 knots for the Sister Islands and 15 to 20 knots for Grand Cayman. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 9 to 11 feet. A small craft warning is in effect.

OUTLOOK: is for overcast skies and scattered thunderstorms to linger through early Saturday morning Moderate to heavy rain is expected over the next 2 days with a potential of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall per day for Friday and Saturday, increasing flooding of low lying areas. A marine warning is in effect for Friday.
